Hello
I’m Lizet Benitez (She/Ella), a bilingual (Spanish) Latina psychotherapist (LCSW) in Houston, TX. I am deeply committed to reshaping mental health by breaking generational cycles of trauma and cultivating a culture that embraces mental health and emotional expression as a norm.
My Approach
I focus on co-creating a space where you can feel empowered to delve into the complexities of your mental health. I place particular emphasis on the often-overlooked impact of historical, cultural, and intergenerational influences. Recognizing that mental health is deeply intertwined with cultural heritage, community connections, and personal history, I help clients explore how these factors shape their mental and emotional well-being. Together, we work to unpack these intersections, break cycles of inherited trauma, and reclaim your narratives.

In my practice, I prioritize honoring your unique identity, voice, and lived experience. I strive to create a supportive and respectful environment that also encourages you to explore deeper self-awareness and challenge limiting beliefs.

I believe true healing requires a foundation of trust, a willingness to embrace vulnerability, and a space for growth that is free of judgment. My goal is to guide you on a journey toward greater self-discovery and lasting transformation.

Some of the frameworks that inform my work are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Polyvagal Theory, parts work, and expressive arts such as Sandtray.
