EMDR therapy is based on the idea that traumatic or distressing experiences can get "stuck" in our brains, preventing proper processing and resolution. These unresolved experiences can continue to cause distress and interfere with our daily lives.

By activating bilateral stimulation during the therapy session, EMDR helps stimulate the brain's natural healing mechanisms.
