Mayra Varela

Mayra is the middle child of seven children. Mayra was raised by immigrant farm workers; she has learned to quickly adapt to change. Mayra was born in Florida, raised in Georgia and has been a Houston native since 2010.

Mayra has been working with low-income immigrant refugee children, youth, and adults since 2016, inspiring her to pursue a master’s in social work at Our Lady of The Lake University.

Mayra aims to help clients improve their well-being with dignity and respect.

In Mayra’s free time, she loves spending time with her family, going on adventures, and traveling to new places.
